But after watching the video, we have to say that we’re loving Taylor’s blend of beautiful winter scenery with the cold reality of a painful breakup. Just when we thought watching the “Back To December” video was going to be a serious downer, Taylor’s gone and thrown us a curveball.

As the countdown to the release date of one of the year’s most anticipated albums, Taylor Swift’s Speak Now, continues, another single has been released to promote it. Just today, Taylor Swift released a song called “Mean” to iTunes.

The song returns to Taylor’s original country roots. It’s nice to hear Taylor drop of a bit of the pop sound and make a song from the genre that really started her career.

We know one thing. Taylor Swift wants to say sorry. We just don’t know who she’s saying it to yet.

In a recent interview, Taylor revealed that “Back To December,” her most recent promotional release from her upcoming Speak Now album, is a song she wrote to say sorry to a boy that she didn’t treat quite right. Who’s this mystery boy, you ask? Well your guess is as good as ours here. Maybe it’s one of her high profile romances that have been floating through the tabloids in the past months. Taylor Lautner, maybe? Could it be Joe Jonas? We definitely don’t have the answer. Maybe you can figuring it out by giving the song a listen. Check it out below and see what you can gather. The MTV VMAs have come and gone for 2010. It was a show filled with star studded performers and awards. And although it may not have had the WOW moments of year’s past (Kanye, Taylor anybody?), there was still enough material to make for some pretty good water cooler discussion. So if you missed any of the action, we’ve got the low down to get you up to speed.

The show opened with a performance from Eminem. Playing his smash hits “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie,” Eminem did his part to get the party started. For the latter song, he was joined on stage by Rihanna, and together they got the crowd in a party mood. Check it out below.

Then came time for host Chelsea Handler to take the reigns. It started with a backstage skit that featured a series of butt slaps from the likes of Lil’ Jon, Flo-Rida, and even Lindsay Lohan, who was able to turn her well documented issues–including her recent prison stint–into a pretty funny bit.

After the skit aired, Chelsea took the stage in a Lady Gaga inspired costume, dropped some jokes on some attendees, including everyone from the cast of the Jersey Shore to Justin Bieber.

Ellen Degeneres showed up to present the first award. Not unexpectedly, Lady Gaga took home the Moonman for Best Female Video. Here’s a hint, this wasn’t the last time she got up on stage.

Next up was the award for Best Rock Video. The guys from Jackass took the stage to promote their upcoming film, and after a bit of goofing around, they let us know 30 Seconds to Mars won the award. Frontman Jared Leto, a guy who literally doesn’t seem to age, gave a short but sweet acceptance speech, thanking the band’s fans.

After that, it was on to Kim Kardashian backstage for a lead in to Justin Bieber’s performance. The teenage phenom took the stage outside of the Nokia Theater and wowed the crowd with a number of his famous hits and surprisingly solid dance moves. Despite all the dancing, his vocals stayed remarkably solid, which was enough for more than a few Twitterers to claim that he was lip synching. We’ve got our own opinions on that, but you’ll have be the judge on this one. He finished off with a drum solo. That part was definitely legit.

Back inside the show went on with house DJ Deadmau5 keeping the mood high with his spins. Ke$ha and Trey Songz introduced Usher, who put on a solid stage production. It’s a good thing Justin Bieber was watching his musical mentor perform because Usher’s definitely done this before, and it shows.

Presenters Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj made their way on stage to the delight of all the males in the audience. The two of them joked around about finding a man at the VMAs–something Katy knows too well after nabbing her husband Russell Brand at last year’s awards. Eminem took the award for Best Male Video, but had sadly already hopped on a plane for New York and was unable to accept it.

After some tunes from Deadmau5 and an auto-tuned comedy bit by the host, it was time for Florence + The Machine to hit the stage. If you weren’t aware of Florence + The Machine before, you should definitely take notice now. Lead singer Florence Welch is immensely talented, which she proved with her rendition of “Dog Days Are Over,” definitely one of the great performances of the night. After, Travie McCoy lead into the commercial break by rapping a verse from his hit “Billionaire.”

To the delight of the many ‘Gleeks’ in the audience, the cast of Glee came out to present the award for Best Pop Video. Guess what, Lady Gaga won again. We all saw that coming.

And now for a moment that you’re sure to hear about more than once, Taylor Swift performed a new song “You’re Still An Innocent” live. Before the track, clips flashed from the infamous Kanye-gate incident last year. She sang about innocence and understanding. Walking around on stage in her bare feet, it sounded like she had genuinely forgiven the rapper for the incident. After some more comedy, the next performance on deck was courtesy of Drake, Mary J. Blige, and Swizz Beatz. They were definitely going for an old fashioned image, with tuxedos and apparel that looked like it came straight out of the 1920s. All that was missing was the swing dancing and prohibition.

Shortly after, Chelsea Handler was back on stage, only to be joined by the Jersey Shore cast, who happened to be in a hot tub. Go figure. She hopped in with them, dress and all.

Next came the presentation of Best Hip Hop Video. Eminem took this one down too, but again couldn’t be in house to accept.

After a few side bits, the next performance was on deck, and it was a real triple threat. B.o.B. teamed up with both Bruno Mars and Hayley Williams for a medley. They went through tracks “Beautiful Girls” and “Airplanes,” with Hayley Williams closing it out with “The Only Exception.” It was a solid performance and really showed off the talents of both Bruno Mars and Hayley Williams. The star status of all three artists is sure to keep rising as a result. Leading into the commercial break, Robyn put on a very energetic performance of her hit “Dancing On My Own.” Even though she had only 30 seconds or so to work with, she showed off her talent and energy. The performance cemented her status as one of the most underrated pop stars in the world.

The award for Best New Artist was next, which went to Justin Bieber. Ok maybe he wasn’t as new as some of the other artists, but you can’t doubt his popularity. In a bit of an awkward moment, Justin couldn’t seem to figure out how to make his way up to the stage. Once he figured it out, he got his acceptance speech out of the way.

Next, a performance by Linkin Park outside the Griffin Observatory high above Los Angeles. The setting helped make the performance a memorable one as they sang their new song “Catalyst.”

After the performance, the cameras went back inside the Nokia Theatre. Cher emerged to present the most important award of the night, Video Of The Year. The prestigious award went to Lady Gaga again, who made her way up on stage. With what’s sure to be a headline for some time to come, she was dressed in a meat dress. Yes, you read that right. A meat dress. PETA definitely won’t be happy.

After asking Cher to “hold her meat purse,” Gaga went into her acceptance speech. As promised, she revealed the title of her new album, which she confirmed to be “Born This Way.” After letting the crowd know of the name, she burst into song, singing the chorus of the title track off the album. It was a moment of genuine emotion and raw talent. She’s so talented that we might even let the meat dress slide this time.

For the finale of the night, Kanye West emerged in a bright red suit. He took his place in the center of the stage over top of his drum machine, and proceeded to crank out an epic bassline. He busted out a new song titled “Runaway” which is sure to be a hit, off his new album due in November. In it, Kanye proposes a toast to the “douche bags,” “a–holes,” and “scumbags.” He was joined onstage by Pusha T from Clipse for a guest verse to top off the performance. After his embarassing night and career low light last year, Kanye definitely redeemed himself and ended the show on a high note. Click here to check out the lyrics to his new song “Runaway.”

And that’s one more year to add to the history books of the MTV VMAs. Taylor Swift’s and Kanye’s performances won’t soon be forgotten. But despite all the quality performances on the night, this year’s VMAs will go down as belonging to Lady Gaga. Taking home 8 Moonmen yourself will do that for ya. Apparently even if you’re wearing a dress made of meat.

If you haven’t heard by now, Cee-Lo’s smash hit, “F**k You” has become an internet phenomenon. It landed on the net a couple of weeks ago, and the thing’s already got like 7 million combined views on YouTube (See the NSFW video above). Almost immediately, people are claiming it to be the best break-up song of all time.

The song’s powerful lyrics and catchy tune make it an instant hit. But can we can go so far as to name it the best ever break-up song yet? In order to do that, we’ll need a good look at the competition first.

Though she may have only been 18 year of age at the time of the song’s release, Taylor Swift seems to know a thing or two about break ups. In “Picture To Burn,” Taylor isn’t very happy about her ex’s new girlfriend, and she let’s him know it. The line, “As far as I’m concerned, you’re just another picture to burn,” pretty much says it all.

9. Three Days Grace – “I Hate Everything About You”

Evidently the guys from Three Days Grace don’t have the word “subtle” in their vocabulary. Of all the song’s on this list, “I Hate Everything About You” is the most obviously angry. The Canadian rockers accompany their heavy guitar chords with a heavy message, which, for some very angry people post break-up, might be just what the doctor ordered.

8. Ben Folds Five – “Song For The Dumped”

Attention dumped guys everywhere: The dudes from Ben Folds Five feel your pain. Their famous track, “Song for the Dumped,” sheds light on the important fact that girls can be jerks too. It’s too bad this one sounds a little close to home, Ben. Hopefully you got over her eventually.

You’ve gotta love boy bands. Especially if you’re in one, and you need to tell off an ex. Is there a better way of getting the message across than ganging up and laying a musical beat down on somebody that’s done you wrong? Not likely.

Christina Aguilera’s “Fighter” presents a great way of dealing with a break up: look on the bright side. Even if it seems like you’ve wasted a bunch of time on some jerk, you’re that much better of a person for it. You tell ‘em, Christina.

The song and video for “Cry Me A River” are famously rumored to have been about Justin’s break up with one-time girlfriend Britney Spears–that girl in the video does seem to look a lot like Britney, no? All that aside, whether or not those rumors are true, the song is a great way of telling off a seemingly remorseful cheater.

You might think it’s a bit strange to thank an ex that broke up with you, but not in Kelly Clarkson’s case. As is the same with many break ups, Kelly’s able to realize how much better off she is post break. So ya, if you’re looking for another way of saying “good riddance” to some slimeball, then “Since U Been Gone” should do the trick.

As one of the most famous songs of all time, Nancy Sinatra’s timeless “These Boots Are Made For Walking” says it just right. Even though it’s been around since the 60s, it’s still one of the best tell-off songs of all time. But for those of you out there that just don’t get this old fashioned stuff, I’ll translate her message into more modern terms for you: Peace out, loser!

Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” reigns for a sixth straight week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 137,000 (down 73%) according to Nielsen SoundScan, bringing her cumulative sales total up to 3,104,000. However, while that is a huge sales sum — especially considering it was totaled in just six weeks time — it’s not enough to overtake Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” as 2009′s top selling album. The latter is at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 this week, selling another
60,000 — bringing its 2009 total to 3,217,000.

Of course, Boyle can rest easy in knowing that her “Dream” is but one of just two albums to sell at least 3 million copies in the U.S. last year — something that hasn’t happened since 2006, when three albums did it. Boyle’s “Dream” is also 2009′s top selling album released last year (Swift’s “Fearless” dropped in late 2008), and was also the top selling physical album of 2009. Of its overall 2009 total, physical CDs accounted for 3,019,000 copies, whereas digital downloads made up a rather tiny 86,000.

During an athletic performance of her new song “Louboutins,” Lopez walked up the backs of five dancers, who were assembled like steps, then attempted to leap off — and fell right on her rear end.

“She walked off the stage absolutely fuming,” an unnamed insider told Fox News. “She was so upset, and ready to kill. Jennifer was a perfectionist about that performance and practiced hard.”

Singer Adam Lambert also made an impression with a performance MTV says divided critics. According to their article:

A kind of mash-up of the top awards-show shock moments from Britney, Madonna and Christina Aguilera over the past 15 years, complete with faux-oral sex (which was edited out of the West Coast feed), S&M play, bondage, crotch-grabbing, same-sex make outs, serial hip-thrusting and even an accidental stumble, Lambert made it clear that he’s not the kind of safe pop star typically churned out by the “Idol” machine.

He also pre-emptively declared that anyone who criticized his display of sexual liberty was endorsing a double standard that says straight women can explore their (bi)sexuality onstage, but gay men can’t. However, not everyone agreed.

The Los Angeles Times’ site features photos of the awards show, including what they call Lambert’s “ultra-lewd” performance.

Taylor Swift was a big winner last night, this time without interruption from Kanye West when accepting any of her five awards, which included the top prize, “Artist of the Year.”

Whitney Houston’s big comeback performance is getting very positive buzz on the Internet. FilmyFair says:

What made Whitney different from the other performers at the AMAs, was the fact that she only let her voice do all the performing – figuratively speaking. She did not get into anything bold, nor headline grabbing worthy nor seductive, but she let her powerful voice win over the audience.

And Gather.com says, “It’s official: the Queen of the Night is back!”

Kanye West

Kanye West has has a colorful year, what with getting spoofed as a gay fish on South Park and interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the VMAs. He’s back in the headlines now for pulling a 14-minute video directed by Spike Jonze from his Website and allegedly being dead. Pulling the video was probably a good idea, since he apparently spent some of it (acting) drunk & groping women.

Earlier this month, he was making headlines because of his clothing line being dropped, his being in hiding in India due to the fallout from the Taylor Swift debacle, and the cancellation of his tour with Lady Gaga due to low ticket sales.

Last year ended on a low note for West when he was apparently caught Lip-Syncing on Saturday Night Live, and this year has been pretty rocky. Can he bounce back? Does anyone care anymore? How do you feel about Kanye after all the controversy?
