Even if Lady Gaga doesn’t entirely approve (see video opening), we can’t possibly ignore a well timed spoof from maybe our favorite song-spoof artist of all time. That’s right, Weird Al is back with a brand new spoof version of Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’, aptly titled ‘Perform This Way’. Because even Gaga shouldn’t take herself seriously all the time, right?

** UPDATE: According to Gaga’s rep, she has not even heard the song and is a “huge Weird Al fan”. She says she’s been too busy on tour to listen to it and has not prohibited Weird Al from using it for his parody. We hope these two become friends because they’re both totally ridiculous! We’d love to see a collabo…anyone?

It’s Gaga’s birthday! The Mother Monster turns 25 today.

I know what you’re thinking: Gaga is NOT your average 25 year old. True, most people don’t have multiple #1 hits, records, and world tours to their name at 25, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t appreciate a good birthday gift when she gets it, does it?

Lady Gaga has joined the relief effort for the tragedy still unfolding in Japan today, designing a bracelet for sale and donating all proceeds to the relief effort.

Pictured above, the red and white bracelet is an homage to the Japanese flag and reads ‘We Pray For Japan’. For a minimum donation of $5.00, you’ll receive the bracelet with the funds going to aid relief projects in Japan.

One very special girl got a once in a lifetime opportunity to sing with Lady Gaga at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre last night. Gaga briefly shed her monster skin to reveal the sweetness that lies beneath when she invited Maria Aragon (aka Lady Maria) on stage for a duet of “Born This Way”. Maria was the envy of every monster in the crowd as she snagged the best seat in the house: Gaga’s lap. After being discovered on Youtube by L.Gagz herself last week, the pint-sized superstar held her own on stage, toting her orange stuffed monkey for good luck.

The “Born This Way” music video clocks in at over 7 minutes. Beginning with a 50s sci-fi styled intro, which she titles The Manifesto of Mother Monster, Gaga gives us a bit of thematic backstory.  The story goes something like this: Gaga gives birth to a new race which “bears no prejudice, no judgment, but boundless freedom.” But the ‘eternal mother’ also gives birth to evil. So on goes the battle of good vs. evil as Gaga and her Little Monsters dance around on the dark lit stage to Born This Way.

Watch the “Born This Way” video below. Oh, and be warned, if you think you might have a problem with a pretty realistic birth scene, then you might want to think twice about clicking play. Just sayin’.

It all started with a simple Twitter tease from Lady Gaga:

#thankgod4gaga is trending!? More like#thankgod4monsters! Maybe I should leak the lyrics to Born This Way today, whatdya say #leakitgaga?

Naturally, the Internet began going nuts at news that Gaga was going to release the lyrics to the world. After leaking different sections to a bunch of popular websites and blogs, including Perez Hilton, GagaDaily, Billboard, Pop Justice, and Rolling Stone, Gaga took to Twitter again to tease her fans once more:

Are you ready for the full lyrics?! Can we trend#bornthiswaylyrics!? It has been in my heart for over a year. I’m so excited to share it.

After #bornthiswaylyrics quickly took over as the #1 hashtag in the Twitterverse, Gaga tweeted:

It’s #1 worldwide! That was fast! You’re so radical! Here you Monsters, this one’s for you

What followed was yet another Tweet, this time linking to the full lyrics to “Born This Way.”

So I guess this signals the beginning of the full “Born This Way” frenzy! Only 17 more days until the world gets to hear the uber-anticipated song! We hope you’re ready.

For all you Little Monsters looking for a bit of Gaga to tide you over until “Born This Way” drops, we might have just the thing.

Lady Gaga premiered a remix of one of the brand new songs off of her upcoming album “Born This Way” this week at a Thierry Mugler fashion show in Paris.

If you didn’t know, the fashion house Thierry Mugler is headed by creative director Nicola Formichetti, Gaga’s friend and personal stylist –  you might remember the infamous meat dress he designed for Gaga from this year’s MTV VMAs (shown above).

For all of us that weren’t fortunate enough to hear the new material from Gaga live, the fashion house released the video below where you can hear a remix of the track (possibly titled “Scheibe”). But just a word of warning first: get ready for some wacky visuals! Canadian model Rick Genest is featured in the video, who has his entire body tattooed to look like a skeleton! Now that’s dedication.

9. Michael Jackson – “This Is It”

With a nomination in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category, Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” was a must have on our favorites list. The song, originally recorded in 1983 and co-written with singer/songwriter Paul Anka, is one of our last memories of the legend working in his prime.

8. Glee – “Don’t Stop Believin’”

You might call it the song that started the Glee revolution. The Glee cast’s unforgettable cover of Journey’s 1981 hit “Don’t Stop Believin’” first appeared in the pilot episode back on May 19th, 2009. The cover track took the music world by storm and was the first in a line of many hits from the Glee cast.

7. Train – “Hey, Soul Sister”

Train’s song “Hey, Soul Sister” racked up some pretty impressive numbers over the past year. Aside from hitting #1 in a whopping 16 countries, the track became the biggest selling iTunes song for the entire year of 2010. With those kind of numbers, it’s hard to believe that the song didn’t earn a nomination in the Best Song or Best Record categories. But the band did receive one nod for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.

6. Katy Perry – “California Gurls”

Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” was the song of the summer. And we aren’t giving the song that title simply because it tore up the charts this past summer, but because every time we listen to “California Gurls” it fills us with awesome west-coast sunshine vibes. If there was a Grammy category for Best Beach Song, we’d give it the trophy for sure.

5. Lady Gaga – “Telephone” feat. Beyonce

You’d be very hard pressed to find a more powerful diva collaboration than Lady Gaga and Beyonce on “Telephone.” Even though the song is probably better known for its music video, it still managed to earn a nomination in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category for this year’s Grammys.

4. Eminem – “Love The Way You Lie” feat. Rihanna

To cap off Eminem’s unbelievable comeback year, his song “Love The Way You Lie” racked up nominations in two of the most prestigious Grammy categories: Song of the Year & Record of the Year. “Love The Way You Lie” stood atop the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 consecutive weeks and was one of MetroLyrics.com’s most searched for songs of 2010. If I was a gamblin’ man, I’d say “Love The Way You Lie” is a pretty safe bet to be taking home some serious hardware come Grammy night.

3. Jay-Z – “Empire State Of Mind” feat. Alicia Keys

Jay-Z’s now famous ode to his home city of New York is nominated in the category of Record of the Year. Alicia Key’s unforgettable chorus provided us with one of the most sing-along-worthy moments of the year. Despite being shut out in the Song of the Year category, this little slice of the big apple is a modern day classic, and the lyrics easily make it onto our Grammy favorites list.

2. Lady Antebellum – “Need You Now”

Lady Antebellum’s smash hit “Need You Now” does what all great country songs do: it tells a story. The song’s lyrics paint a picture of loneliness and heartbreak that tugs at the heartstrings. Maybe that’s why it already claimed the awards for Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards and is up for both Record and Song of the Year at this year’s Grammys.

1. Kings Of Leon – “Radioactive”

You might be a bit surprised to see “Radioactive” listed at the #1 spot on this list, but what can we say? The sweet southern gospel feel of the song really got these indie rockers back on our radar this year.

The lyrics to “Radioactive” are about not forgetting where you come from. For a band that’s seen as much success recently as Kings Of Leon, staying down to earth must be difficult. We’re glad that they’re still able to keep their success in perspective. Look for the song in the Best Rock Song category.

10. Dr. Dre – Detox – Release: February

After waiting year, after year, after year for Dr. Dre’s return to the mic, it looks like we’ll finally be hearing his much anticipated album Detox in early 2011. In recent interviews, Dre has gone on the record saying that Detox is an “inspired” album. We’re not entirely sure what to make of that, but if lead single “Kush” is a sign of what to expect, we’ll be hearing ample amounts of Dre’s signature bass heavy west coast hip-hop on Detox.

9. The Strokes – TBA – Release: Spring

It was nearly 10 years ago that The Strokes roared out of the gates and took the Rock world by storm with their debut album Is This It. Fast forward to today and The Strokes career arc hasn’t been quite as promising as many would have hoped. But after a number of album delays, The Strokes look like they’ve finally gotten it together for their upcoming album. Lead singer Julian Casablancas Tweeted in November that the record is complete and to expect it early this year.

8. Adele – 21 – Release: January 24

After releasing her debut album 19 at the age of 19, Adele is back two years later with a new album 21 (Are you seeing a trend here?). So far, the extra 2 years of maturity seem to be helping. The album’s lead single “Rolling In The Deep” is a hauntingly beautiful song, and if 21 is full of tracks like it, Adele will have no problem meeting our lofty expectations.

7. Lil’ Wayne – The Carter IV – Release: TBA

After having 9 months of prison time to stir his creative juices, Lil’ Wayne looks poised to drop the latest edition in his The Carter series, The Carter IV, sometime in early 2011. Despite the fact that Wayne is one of the most prolific rap artists alive today, he tends to save his best material for his Carter albums. Here’s hoping that The Carter IV doesn’t buck that tradition.

6. Kanye West & Jay-Z – Watch The Throne – Release: TBA

What’s better than one multi-platinum hip-hop recording artist? Well two of course!Kanye West and Jay-Z have hip-hop fans wondering what to expect from their massive upcoming collaboration album Watch The Throne. Earlier this week, the album’s lead single “H.A.M.” made it’s way to the web, which leads us to believe we’ll be hearing more of the album in the near future.

5. Blink-182 – TBA – Release: TBA

For anybody that grew up in the 90s, Blink-182 is more than a band, they’re like friends. Blink’s blend of pop-punk melancholy was the soundtrack to adolescence for kids of many ages. For anyone even vaguely familiar, this comeback record comes with some heavy nostalgia. No word yet as to whether or not the band will change their classic sound, but we’ll definitely be listening to find out. There’s still no release date or official title yet, but that’s not stopping us from getting excited.

4. Beyonce – TBA – Release: TBA

After solidifying I Am… Sasha Fierce as a classic album with hits like “Single Ladies” and “Halo,” Beyonce is set to return in 2011 with her next record. It’s hard to imagine her improving upon her last effort, but album producer Sean Garret claims the two are taking the album “to a whole other level.” We’ll see how that turns out, but if it measures anywhere close to the last we’ll be happy.

3. Avril Lavigne – Goodbye Lullaby – March 8

It’s been some time since we’ve heard anything from “Complicated” singer, Avril Lavigne. In the past few years, Avril’s made plenty of tabloid headlines, but nothing in the form of new music. Maybe that’s why her upcoming “Goodbye Lullaby” album is so heavily anticipated. The album’s lead single “What The Hell” premiered on New Year’s Eve, and features a more mature sounding Avril. We’ll wait and see if Avril’s loyal fans dig it.

2. Britney Spears – TBA – Release: Spring

Over the past decade, Britney Spears has gone from the high of her early multi-platinum albums to the infamous low of shaving her head off in front of the paparazzi. But it looks like Brit is on her way back to the top in 2011 with one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Talk about a career rollercoaster!

Just a few days back, Brit released the first single off of her upcoming comeback album, entitled “Hold It Against Me.” The song proceeded to break radio play records and hit #1 on iTunes the first day of release. It’s tough to doubt Brit’s rise back to the top at this point.

After only two albums, Lady Gaga has become arguably the biggest pop-star in the world. Whether you love her or hate her, “Born This Way” is surely one of the most anticipated albums of 2011.

Just recently, Gaga herself proclaimed that “Born This Way” will be “the album of the decade.” That’s a pretty lofty statement given that we’ve barely begun this decade. But despite what Gaga thinks about it, the real judgement comes from her fans. Only time will tell how Gaga’s Little Monster fans will react to “Born This Way.” The debate begins February 13th with the release of the album’s first single.

If we’re reading that correctly, it means we’ll be hearing the first single as of February 13th, with the album release following on May 23rd! So start the countdown, Gaga fans! Those dates will be here before you know it!
