Check out the brand new video for Linkin Park’s track “The Catalyst.” It’s the first single off of their upcoming album, A Thousand Suns, out Sept. 14th.

After watching it, all I can say is, these guys should be wearing dust masks.

Music Video: Uffie ft. Pharrell Williams – “ADD SUV”

When Uffie originally hit the scene back in 2006, she became an internet darling. Music blogs were abuzz with her sizzling debut hit, “Pop The Glock.” And it seemed like only a matter of time before Uffie was seeing massive radio play.

Alas, here we are in 2010 with Uffie just recently releasing her debut album to less than ideal fanfare. It’s been quite a turbulent few years for the singer, but maybe she’s back on the right track. Although, it doesn’t help that Ke$ha already took the forefront of the electro-rap/pop genre, especially when some feel she blatantly ripped off Uffie to get to where she is now *cough* M.I.A. *cough*.

Anyways, Uffie released a video for a track featuring Pharrell Williams entitled “ADD SUV” off of her debut album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans today. It’s got a vintage L.A. feel to it, but not just because Pharrell has a zany 70s style mustache. The car’s are old too :P.

Lady Gaga: The Twitter Queen

Recently, Lady Gaga was crowned the Queen of Twitter by accumulating the highest number of followers on the social networking site–the count stood at 5,758,052 last time I checked. To accept the award, she posted the video below to the web. It’s weird.

Among the highlights (or lowlights, maybe?) are when a Glinda the Good Witch-esque Gaga wishes that her fans forever have nice cuticles and don’t acquire Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. And considering I’m more likely to get Carpal Tunnel the longer I type, I’m going to cut this post off and tell you just to watch the video already :P

Music Video: Ted Leo And The Pharmacists – “Bottled In Cork”

Late last week, Ted Leo and his band of “Pharmacists” premiered a video for their second single off of their new album, The Brutalist Bricks, entitled “Bottled In Cork.”

In the video, Reginald Van Voorst (aka comedian Paul F. Thompson) successfully persuades the band to stage a Broadway show as a means of making their music “immortal.” Or as Ted Leo puts it, “one of those half assed musicals, that’s gonna cheapen our music, and embarrasses everyone involved.”

What a great idea! And, a very obvious dig at Green Day for that American Idiot Broadway thing.

The video features John Hodgman–who you sure know as the PC dude from the Apple Commercials–as the established Broadway critic reviewing the show, and has cameos from Patrick Stickles of Titus Andronicus, and comedian Julie Klausner.

New Track: Kanye West – “Power” Remix ft. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz

Last night, Kanye dropped a fresh remix of his recent single “Power” on his blog and Twitter account–which has quickly become my favorite thing on Twitter by far. Make no mistake, this remix is REALLY remixed. Not only does he let Jay and Swizz do their thing on top of a hacked up version of the original “Power” beat, but after he throws down a beat that samples the classic track “The Power” by Snap! so that he can just keep on rappin’. His raps are on point here for sure, as he goes from referencing the infamous Van Gogh ear slicking to spitting a few lines in Islamic. It’s great to see ‘Ye back doing his thing!

New Music Video: Drake ft. Lil’ Wayne – “Miss Me”

Rapper of the moment, Drake, revealed his latest music video to the world today. The video for “Miss Me,” the third single off of Drake’s Thank Me Later record, is directed by Anthony Mandler, who has to date directed ALL of his music videos to date. I’m sure I’m not the only one suggesting that maybe he should switch it up for the next time around, as the same style of lighting and visuals seem to be getting a little tired by this point. That being said, it’s still worth the watch.

New Tracks: Katy Perry – “Firework” & “Peacock”

As the seemingly endless build up to Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream album release on August 24th continues (I can’t wait to stop talking about her!), two new tracks have leaked to the net. The reported third single from the album, “Firework,” is the third track from the album that will no doubt be a radio hit. Don’t expect it to be as big as “California Gurls” or “Teenage Dream”, but it’s got a soaring vocal chorus that will keep the airplay numbers up. It’s also surely got the House DJs of the world scrambling to get to work on crafting their next euphoria inducing hit out of the vocal track. “Firework”

“Peacock” has been buzzed about for a few weeks now on the net. Katy performed it live a while back and people have been anticipating it since, mostly due to the pretty obvious innuendos and double entendres in the lyrics. The track itself turns out to be more of a stomper than anything. In fact, some of it reminds me of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl,” yet not in the same league as Gwen’s epic hit. Anyways, I’m sure this will be lined up as a single sooner or later. Take a listen.

Mark Ronson has debuted another single off of his upcoming album Record Collection. The last track, “Bang Bang Bang,” was awesome and got me stoked for the album. The next one, entitled “Bike Song,” is another quality track. It might not be quite as catchy as the last, but still keeps me more than interested. New Kanye West!

Kanye’s been making quite a bit of noise lately, and last week he continued that trend. West and friends–one of which was the multi-talented John Legend–performed some tracks for a private show in NYC. The set list included songs from his upcoming yet to be titled album, dropping November 16th. A highlight was his brand new song “Mama’s Boyfriend,” which you can see him perform below.

Music Video: Yeasayer – “Madder Red” starring Kristen Bell

Ugly pets: they’re still just as lovable. Yeasayer definitely understands.

Their clip for “Madder Red” features actress Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) trying to hold herself together through her pet’s final days. Not only does she struggle to tend to her sick pet and give it what it needs, but also hold herself together emotionally through such a tough time. Sounds pretty standard , the pet is a one armed ball of gooey, hairy flesh that’s so hideous it makes this thing look like Marilyn Monroe.

Kanye West premiered a new song off of his upcoming album entitled “See Me Now.” The track features both Beyonce and Charlie Wilson, and is growing on me more and more with every listen. The raps are vintage Kanye, too. My personal fave: “I admit, my first watch was a Fossil. Now I’m in the Louvre, lookin for fossils.” HAHAHA! It’s hot, check it out!

M.I.A. has released a video for her single “XXXO” off of her /\/\/\Y/\ album, and the entire thing resembles one of the cheesy background templates you choose for your instant photo booth shots. If this style catches on, I’m beginning to think I should get into the music video production business.

Music Video: Katy Perry – “Teenage Dream”

The music video for Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” has finally arrived. Premiering earlier today, the long awaited clip for the pop star’s second heat seeking single isn’t a let down. Directed by Yoann Lemoine and shot in Santa Barbara, the video screams West Coast. And even though the name might not suggest it, I’d argue that this one’s more California than her previous single “California Gurls.”

The beautifully shot video highlights the vintage glam, carefree feeling of the California surf coast lifestyle. It starts with the epic California sunshine, beaming down on the two lovers as the cruise toward the coast in a classic convertible. From there, it’s a pedal to the metal party with a group of friends, taking place everywhere from the beach, to the hotel (gulp!), to the dance floor, to the pool.

As you’d probably expect, Katy and co-star Josh Kloss get hot and heavy on more than a few occasions. The romance is a big part of the “Teenage Dream”; but it’s also about the sun, friends, parties, and carefree fun that we all inevitably imagine ourselves in. Whether you’re 13 or 30, Teenage Dream lets you, for a few minutes at least, feel those summer days where life exists in the moment, without a worry or care. It’s that feeling that will make this song the go to track for the rest of the fleeting summer, and maybe even once the sunshine disappears into the fall. Because, of course, even when all the fun in the sun is gone, we can still dream about it, can’t we?
