Once again it’s that time of year for the world to descend on New Orleans to get in on the party. It’s an all out celebration with quality food, great people and even better music — which is where we come in. Here’s our Fat Tuesday playlist, made up entirely of songs from Louisiana natives. It’s our way of helpin’ ya get in a Mardi Gras kinda mood.

As a Louisiana native, Britney Spears certainly knows what the Mardi Gras celebrations are all about. Her hit song ‘Circus,’ from 2008, sums it all up into one massive pop anthem, making it a must have on our Fat Tuesday list.

Tim McGraw – Something Like That

The lyrics to Tim McGraw’s song “Something Like That” go like this: “heading down to New Orleans to meet some friends of mine for Mardi Gras.” And as if that wasn’t already fitting enough, the chorus of the song sees Tim telling us, “I had a BBQ stain on my white t-shirt”. Needless to say, our mouths are watering for some quality cajun BBQ.

Lil Wayne – Got Money

This New Orleans-born MC is a perfect addition to our Mardi Gras list. Why? Because practically every Lil’ Wayne song deals with partying. ‘Got Money’ is definitely no exception, so why not use it to help get your Mardi Gras party started.

Jerry Lee Lewis – GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!

Goodness gracious, Louisiana native Jerry Lee Lewis certainly knows how to party! Never wanting to sit down during a piano performance, Lewis is infamous for his onstage antics – kicking chairs and burning pianos, anyone? Sounds like a Mardi Gras party to me.
