The video for Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Skylar Grey’s hit song “I Need A Doctor” is here.
The 7 plus minute clip begins with Dr. Dre reflecting on his past, interspersed with scenes of his early rap days. You’ll probably notice the clips of Dre hanging with Tupac and fellow NWA alum, the late Eazy-E. After his moment of reflection, Dre hops in his Ferrari and gives us a lesson in how not to drive. As you’ll see, that’s when the video really gets interesting.
As someone that’s getting up there in age — he’s 46! — it should be no surprise that Dre is taking a more personal and introspective look into his career. “I Need A Doctor” is as a metaphor for a man looking to revive a once prolific career. He recruits up-and-coming singer Skylar Grey and protege-turned-superstar Eminem to give him a hand.
It’s well known that Dre gave Eminem his big break, signing him to his label and catapulting him to his place at the top of the rap world. In “I Need A Doctor,” Eminem is back to help his mentor revive a fading career. And judging from the early success of “I Need A Doctor,” it appears that their revival attempt is working.
