Over the weekend, Michael Jackson released the first single off of his upcoming posthumous album “Michael” to the web. The track, entitled “Hold My Hand (Duet With Akon),” comes just days after Michael’s controversial “Breaking News” track debuted.

While “Breaking News” took a bitter stance at the relentless media’s attacks on Michael, “Hold My Hand” takes a much more peaceful tone. The song comes with a message of unity and the power of the collective, as Michael and Akon sing “We’re better off being together than being miserable alone.”

We easily prefer “Hold My Hand” to “Breaking News,” but the whole posthumous album idea, especially in this case, still feels a little weird to us.  For some reason, it just doesn’t seem right releasing someone’s work without their final approval.
