When Ciara stormed the R&B scene in 2004 with her debut album Goodies, it looked as though she was snatching the crown as the Queen of R&B for good. With a smooth, sexy voice and looks that make her shoe in for Most Beautiful lists everywhere, the girl known as “The Princess” clearly had all the tools to take the crown and run with it.

But coming out of the gates with smash hits like “Goodies,” “1,2 Step,” and “Oh” sets the bar very high. Fast forward 6 years and 2 albums and the expectations have cooled a bit. Following Goodies, her two subsequent albums saw success, but couldn’t match the astounding success of her debut album.

So it shouldn’t be a big surprise that Ciara seems driven to recreate that original sound on her new album Basic Instinct. If the album title wasn’t indication enough, then have a listen to the first single “Ride.” It’s a down and dirty R&B stomper, that sees her teaming up once again with her “Oh” co-star, Ludacris.

Yesterday, Ciara released a video for the second single off of Basic Instinct. The track is called “Speechless,” and sounds like a hit. But come on, as if that awesome song artwork above didn’t already make it great enough, right?
